THE TEAM
The School of Sound and Tribal Healing Arts is a new initiative being brought forward by Anthar Kharana and Suzy Nairn, both graduates in the Practitioners level Diploma in Sound Therapy from the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST) and members of the British Register for Complementary Practitioners (MBRCP-Sound).
Anthar and Suzy have been working together across the UK and in Colombia for more than 9 years providing a prolific amount of sound related events, treatments, workshops and concerts. Their courses and events are delivered with a sense of open-ness and light-heartedness, as well as being professional and highly supportive.

Anthar Kharana is native from the land of the old Hacaritama people up in the Andes in the north of Colombia. He is a guardian of traditions, ancestral music and medicines of the Condor Nations and also Spiritual Leader of the Pachamama Native American Church, guided and supported by wise Elders from his homeland from an early age. He is also a music composer and sound healing practitioner.
As a Sundancer he carries the blessing to hold the Chanupa (peace pipe) and Inipi (sweat lodge) medicines from the linage of Leonard Crow Dog and became one of the Sons of the alliance of the Eagle & Condor Nations, a New Nation united by the agreement of the Elders of the North and South America to become One. Over the last 15 Years Anthar has been traveling and sharing the wisdom of the Sacred Fire and Ancestral Sound and its relation to the Plant and Animal Kingdom Medicine. He leads traditional ceremonies, sound journeys, conferences, workshops, concerts, therapies and retreats in different countries around the world including, Colombia, Chile, England, Scotland, Wales, Ibiza, Bali-Indonesia, Poland, France, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Italy, US and South Korea. As a composer and multi-instrumentalist Anthar has created different Albums of inspirational music and is an active composer for different international dance and theatre companies including Protein Dance, Sinman Dance, Vocab Dance and Fashion for Conservation. He is the Director of Tribal Sound Healing and the Tambora Foundation in the UK and Colombia and co-director of the first school of sound healing in Scotland ANSU School of Sound & Tribal Healing Arts. Her original training was with Queen Margaret’s University in Edinburgh where she graduated with a BA (Distinction) in Communication Studies, focussing her final year project on Music and The Communication of Emotions. Suzy then worked in art, music, conservation, environmental education and holistic work over the next 25 years and is passionate about sharing the power of sound and facilitating it's sensitive use within all aspects of society.
Much of her work has been within teaching and community education - from being a childrens Kindermusik Educator to the Adult Education Manager at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh for 16 years. Whilst studying to become a Sound Therapist, Suzy’s main focus was on the voice and specifically the effects of overtoning. Suzy continues to work privately as a Sound Therapist, offering individual treatments, group sessions, workshops, online recordings as well as retreats at her beautiful yurt "Casa Colibri" in Peebles. Over the years Suzy has also studied Reiki, Merlin Vortex Healing, the embracing of the feminine through Priestess of the Moon training and Goddess Empowerment. She is also a singer, joining her first band in 2017 and an avid supporter of local and live music.
